HARDEN, DONALD B., Glass of the Caesars, Olivetti, Milan, 1987
This exhibition of Roman glass draws on the collections of The Corning Museum of Glass, which has the largest collection of all periods, the British Museum, which has the largest archeologist collection, and the Romisch-Germanisches Museum of Cologne, which has the largest collection of Roman Glass. The exhibition shows the story of story of Roman glass in the Imperial Age (100 B.C. to A.D. 500). These collections between them provide examples of every major development in glass-making techniques and decoration during that period. The exhibition allows a unique presentation of problems and ideas. Only here, for example, would it be possible to see so large a collection of Roman cameo glasses, or to compare the Lycurgus Cup with the best multi-coloured open-work cups from Milan and Cologne
